Gathering of the Mines: The Mining Conference in Brainerd

Over the weekend of September 27-29, several leading thinkers and companies in the bitcoin mining industry gathered in Brainerd, Minnesota. Experts from around the country presented, exhibited their companies and products, and compared notes on the cutting edge of this already groundbreaking industry. This was The Mining Conference 2024, hosted by Just for Krypto mining farm and organized by Bitcoin Mining World. MNblockchain was fortunate to have a place.

Focusing on the mining side of the bitcoin movement, the talks opened minds to the potential of this technology: enhancements in solar power, mining as a way to stabilize the power grid, mining as a way for companies to establish a new revenue stream, and the larger movement toward a universal money outside the control of any government. “Bitcoin is an anti-war technology,” said Peter Saddington.

One company used the conference to unveil a new product. A representative from Ocean mining pool took the stage to announce DATUM, a technology designed to help decentralize bitcoin mining by letting individuals tailor their own mining block templates.

Homegrown talent took the stage too, with our friends Alex Schoephoerster and Chase Larson presenting St. Cloud Financial Credit Union's Digital Asset Vault, an industry first for credit union cryptocurrency custody.

Beyond the talks there were demonstrations of building a miner, booths from event partners, and, on Day 2, lunch, a tour of Just for Krypto's 20+ MW mining farm, more presentations, and music.
